Our Family loves this place. Been coming for years, before they were on 6th St. We love many things; Vietnamese Rolls, Shrimp and sweet potato apppetizer, House Special Soup for 2, Shredded Pork with Vermicelli (I actually crave this once in a while!), filet with watercress and on and on. It is a very pleasant place, pleasant owners, and quite a find for Reading. BYOB is also a plus. Try it - Terrific.

I have eaten at Hong Thanh, both this location and their previous one on Chestnut Street, dozens of times. The food is always amazing and they are very willing to change something on the menu if there is a particular ingredient that you don't want. The servers are very friendly and the prices are good. To me, $10 - $15 per entree on average is not excessive at all. I don't understand all the comlaints about parking. If you can't find on street parking which we almost always can, their is a multi level parking garage less than one block away on Court Street. Overall a wonderful place to eat and to take friends and family!

The food is very tasty. It isn't my my favorite Vietnamese Resturant, but is has good qaulity food. It is the best place in the Berks county area to get Veitnamese food. Very tasty.

I have been to many restaurants that have wonderful reputations. To be blunt, I wouldn't tell anyone to go to Hong Thanh. I'm sorry to say that our entire experience was horrible. The first course was dry (meatballs with ricepaper wraps) and when I mentioned that it wasn't edible, they still refused to remove it off the bill. My dinner, which was the twice cooked Hen, was most likely three times cooked because that was dry too. No music and on a dinner date with my girlfriend, nothing but kids screaming. Yes, about 10 kids from the owner's family screaming and carrying on through the entire dinner. I will never be back and will tell everyone I know about my experience. Also, our waitress was around only when she felt that we saw her walk by. Thanks for a horrible evening!

We randomly sampled a couple of dishes from this restaurant, which was recommended by a couple of doctors from the area. It was definitely very delicious. I'm Vietnamese and was quite pleased with the authenticity of the dishes. Just ate at the restaurant again after having a three day craving after my first dinning experience. Remember though, they are closed Mon & Tuesday. Don't make the same mistake i made. Try the string beans, soybean, and tofu dish. Very TASTY!!!! A bit pricey when compared to Chinatown, Philadelphia. But very comparable to restaurants in Chinatown, Philadelphia in the tastiness of the dishes. Delectable and Savory!

My girlfriend loves this restaurant. Any time I ask her where to eat, this is it. I don't complain because I like it too. The food is great (tasting, portions, selection and price). The service is great. The only thing that isnt great about this place is the parking, and the location. Everything else is reason enough for going there "often."

Been there several times with family and friends. Excellent food from beginning to end. Great service and pretty waitresses to boot. Have the French coffee with condensed milk after dinner.

This is by far the best restaurant in Reading. The food is always fresh, with unusual and complex flavors. Try their chocolate raspberry tea sorbet for dessert- I order it first to be sure they don't run out by the end of the meal!

Parking is a hassle, but it's worth it.

I love this restaurant and drive 60+ miles to get there. The new location is a plus but I really come for the food. I have never had anything that was less than great. My only regret is that it is not closer to my home. Vietnamese spring rolls are my favorite but my friend always gets the whole fish. Appetizers are wonderful. Finish off the meal with French coffee. Come hungry leave satisfied. Don't worry about the parking... Just go. Give them a call before at they do go home to Vietnam and restaurant is closed sometimes for their extended vacation.

My family and I consider Hong Thanh the BEST Vietnamese restaurant in the region. We have been dining there (at the 6th & Court St location) ever since they opened. Wonderful ambience, friendly servers more than able to make every meal a memorable occasion. We had the wedding rehearsal dinner there--party of 35. But a table for two gets the same superb service. Favorite entree is filet mignon with garlic and watercress. Try the shrimp and sweet potato appetizer. Amazing! Full menu of Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine.

If you think this location is unfriendly, you shoulda been at their old location!! You can park in the garage on Court street, less than a block East for $2.00 on weekend nights and usually free on weekday nights- if you can't find on-street parking nearby. My favorite eats in Reading.

Best Vietnamese Food in the area. Agreed by more then just Americans. Parking is a big problem. Plan on walking at least three blocks in what seems to be a not so friendly neighborhood.
