Katy Restaurant Guide

There's a reason this bbq place has been around over 30 years. Nothing in the area can even come close. Having grown up in Katy, my family has been going there since the eighties. The food has remained consistently great. This is not a place I would dine-in (except for lunch), and they do not take credit cards. The service is fast and friendly, and it is reasonably priced for the quality.

While Nonmachers is not fancy, the food is great. Okay, so it's not as clean as we all might like, but I've never gotten sick on their food and have at other "cleaner" places! It is a down-home, mom-and-pop shop that just concentrates on the best food. If you want to be fussed over, etc., go somewhere else! We love it!

I have been going to Nonmacher's since I have lived in Katy....8 years and their BBQ is the only BBQ in Katy I eat besides my own. They are not rude by any means. Everytime I go there, I have to break off the conversation because they like to talk my head off. Reviewers who think the owner and employees are rude might want to evaluate their own attitudes. Don't expect to get your butt kissed when you are rude to them. Nice review by someone who stops next door in for a $3.00 haircut...of course they are going to be high priced for you.

The food is Ok not the best by far but OK. John Nonmacher (Old man w/ beard) the owner has yet to smile or ask a friendly qusetion. I dont believe he's a rude man but not friendly by any Stretch. The guys that cut the BBQ never were gloves and handle everything by hand. (Just noticed that today) dont think I'm going back. (YUCKKK)

Priced way too high for what you get. They are rude, just like the other reviewer said. And.... They don't take credit cards. The positive reviews are obviously from the restaurant operators because they are totally wrong and too similar. I have yet to see more than one or two people in there whenever I go to the haircut place next door.

Could drone on....but just disgusting. Tasted like BBQ off the shelf of an Exxon station.

Small, unassuming little place on Mason Road we've enjoyed for almost 20 years. When anyone from out of state asks for the real thing...Texas BBQ...I just take them to Nonmachers. It's great, smoked BBQ done right. Everything they do is 5 star, but the sausage should be 6 star...sauce too! P.S. Here's the perfect football game on the home HD TV...Nonmacher's family deal and a cold beer. PERFECTION.

THEY COST WAY TO MUCH FOR THERE FOOD.I GOT ONE POUND OF BEEF IT WAS ALL FAT BUT 4 BITS.AND THEY ARE RUDE,THEY NEED TO TAKE THE TIP JAR OUT.

Excellent BBQ and the staff is great. Mom and Pop shop. They are great with large orders and just your regluar order. The place is small but you can find a table if you want to eat there. Bring cash, he doesn't take plastic. BUT it is worth stopping at the ATM for.

Excellent food prepared the good old fashioned way. restaurant is mainly for pick up orders. best price/value ratio of the west Houston area.

I have been eating at Nonmachers since they opened! Great BBQ and service. There are a lot of big BBQ places around town claiming to have the best BBQ, but nothing comes close to Nonmachers! And it is on MASON rd NOT FRY.

I have been buying BBQ from Nonmachers for twenty years and have never gotten anything but good, succulent food. The brisket is always tender with just the right amount of smoke. The sauce goes with the meat and is delicious without being sweet. The place is small and not too pretty but the food is excellent. Whe I want real Texas BBQ I go to Nonmachers on Fry Road in Katy.
