I live in New Braunfels and I honestly don't understand how this is supposed to be a good experience for anyone. I don't understand why they would have repeat customers. The food is over priced and not particularly interesting. The ambience is similar to a 1970's truckstop. The waiters are unprofessional ignorant teens. Frankly, it was probably one of the most disappointing resaurant experiences I've had in a long time.

This seems to be a tourist trap restaurant. The food was nothing special, and the price for what you get is not worth it at all. I recommend looking elsewhere.

Liberty Bistro is a must stop when you are in the New Braunfels area and is definitely worth a drive if you are in San Antonio or Austin. They have a very diverse menu so whatever you are looking for they have it. The wine list is excellent as well ...

Worst restaurant we have visited in a long time. I asked i the server if the green beans were fresh or canned and was assured they were fresh. I am not a dummy and I know what cannned beans look like. Our fine server also asked our 9 year old daughter if she wanted chicken nuggets or chicken strips. She opted for the strips and we were charged $10 for them. I could go on and on... This restaurant sucks! dont waste your time or money. Anyone who says this is german food is probably from New Braunfels, or just stupid.

Having grown up south of Houston, I am sad I did not try Oma's Haus before this past weekend. This is a great place to eat, outstanding food, 5*'s all the way. Don't put much in Ms. Florida's vote, probably got confused with all the chad ;-)

The restaurant has great food and superb service. Perfect place for a family or a couple to have a wonderful meal. The decor is nice, you'll be comfortable and well-treated. We dined there tonight and were pleasantly surprised -- for a "near the interstate" restaurant, it exceeded expectations. The potato pancakes were very good, and the German potato salad was clean, light and tasty. Meats were well-prepared with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and tenderness on the inside. Red cabbage was fabulous, with the right balance of tart and sweet flavor. Wide range of desserts, but we only tried the fudge strudle -- well worth it! Flaky pastry, warm fudge, beautiful presentation. Excellent German beer selection and an okay wine list. Our server was charming, knew the menu well, and made us feel welcome. In short, worth the stop.

The person from Florida can have all her other german cities, and all her other German restaurants, New Braunfels does it differently, and they do it right!

Oma's Haus is definately "Texas German" food. It's not going to taste like food you eat IN Germany, but it is going to taste good. If you see items on the menu like German Nachos, Sausage tacos, and Niersteiner Schnitzel (sounds authentic, but is a made up word)...then you should know you're in for a non-traditional German meal. The restaurant is small, family-owned, cozy, and the food is tasty.

This is an excellent restaurant to relax and enjoy great food and service. A trip to New Braunfels, San Antonio, or San Marcos would not be complete if you miss this restaurant. The gift shop is great too.

I asked the waiter about the German potato salad, German fried potatoes and the German potato pancakes, his answer the food is like in Germany. The waiter asked me how the food is, I explained to him that the food is not even close to German food, his commend " I don't care it is Texas German Food" very rude. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to any German people or to any person who like to try German food.
I went over the last 12 years to a lot of German restaurants (Dallas, Houston, Michigan, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach etc.) this one in New Braunfels was by far the worst one.

When we walked in, there was a table of elderly gentlemen at a table, nursing their steins of beer, and chattering away in German. Reminded us of a bierhall in Munich. The food was good, too.
