I don't know what that recent reviewer said or did, but I wouldn't call the owners at Al's Deli rude. I'd call them some of the best professionals in the business anywhere. This is old world--classic deli that could make it in any French arrondissmont. If you go in there looking for a classic ita...
Excellent overall experience.
I have not had the same experiences the other diners did. This family restaurant has been open since the 1970's. The basement location is kind of odd, however I'm sure that is how they keep their menu prices down by being in the lower rent zone. I have been going here with my family for 20+ years...
Great food, great atmosphere for a great price.

There are only a handful of authentic japanese restaurants in chicago area. Kunis has always offered fresh and nice size serving of fish in their sushi!
Best Italian food in the burbs. We only like Spaggio cafe as well as place. You will not believe how good the meatballs are! The octopus was tender. The service is relaxed and good. Wish italian food in Italy was this good!
loved it-- i was pleasantly surprised!! great food best Jamaican experience in Chicago and the prices are good. i got so much food there...
ONE OF THE BEST DELI'S ON THE NORTH SHORE. Old school deli ambiance, run by brothers, with the quality firmly on the food. Great bread, fresh meats, unique drinks, a fine assortment of homemade pastas, potato salads, and the best rice pudding in the area. Turkey on croissant with a bernaise sauce an...
The food is just fine but the owner is VERY rude. Don't try and call ahead as he will hang up on you mid-sentence utterring that his hole-in-the-wall deli leaves him "too busy" to answer questions. I would wholly recommend rollin'2go (next door) for similar quality but MUCH better service.
Nothing exceptional at this restaurant. Food was average for this area but i would say that it is over-priced. I expected the food to be hot and not simply tepid. I have had better meals at Evanston Hospital where dinners are served on hot plates, not cold ones. Simply disappointing!!
weak attempt at real italian food. rude servers dirty kitchen and ding room tasteless food poor quality. one of the most overated restaurants in chicago area. be advised stay away from this dump.
this place should be called flunkies. poor food poor service and a dirty enviroment, just does not add up. the owner thiks the wine list is special its not. and he says healthful food, not a chance its garbage. i have yet to see or speak to anyone italian who is employed there. white castle is a bet...
a cornball attempt at real italian food. rude servers lousy food not inexpensive this place is chef boy-r-dee meets franco american. dirty too.do not bother dining htere you wont be missinganything.
this restaurant lacks everything imaginable. the food is terrible. the service is even worse, as rude as it gets. this basement loction is not cool it is oddball at best. the place is always dirty and noisy. gee. better go somewhere else.
for many years this strange place has seemingly done well. and i cannot understand why. the food is quite terrible the pasta is too soft and chewy the sauces are bland and tasteless. the service or lack thereof is terrible. the owner who is not italian nor are any of his employees. the so called amb...
