I thought it was me!!!!We went to the old location and we were very disappointed. The chicken and ribs tasted like they were old and had been reheated several times. The waitress never came back to offer refills or to see if everything was ok. We paid the bill and left. We will never go back. I thought they had closed down until one day I rode by the new location on US 1. You are better off at Checkers or even Apple Bees......

On 10/2/2008 we went to Smokey’s for lunch. When we pulled up to the old location we saw the new address sign on the door. We made the EXTRA effort to find the new location. We have lived out of state for 9 years, before that we ate there at least twice a month – use to be the best barbeque in town. We were told by our waitress that they were known for there baby back ribs. We ordered a beef sandwich and baby back ribs. I ordered the homemade beans with my ribs. I order baby back ribs A LOT. I KNOW GOOD BABY BACK RIBS. When our plates came I tried to pull the end rib off, no luck. I took my steak knife and could not cut the end rib off. My husband had to cut it off for me. After one dry bite I offered him a bite for a second opinion. They were THE WORST I have ever had. I asked the waitress to take them back and bring me a sandwich. I kept my beans so I could have something to eat while my husband ate. The “homemade” beans were full of beef fat-yuck. When my husband was almost done eating, my sandwich showed up with the female owner. She raised her voice at me telling me they only by the very best ribs – in other words calling me a liar. She never once said I am sorry. She was very rude and never lowered her voice. I asked her if she tried to pull a rib off of the other end of the slab they served me, and her response was “I do not touch other people’s food.” (YOU COOK OTHER PEOPLE’S FOOD YOU MORON!) The beef sandwich I was brought was dry as a bone. After drenching it in sauce I decided to stop eating. We were never offered refills on our drinks. When my husband went to pay the bill he tried to talk to the NEW owner again. Come to find out Smokey’s was sold 4 years ago. That explains all but one thing – why are the new owners in the restaurant business?? The owners need to learn the definition of customer service or they will be very lonely! We were charged for my husband’s meal (another bone dry beef sandwich) and our drinks – too bad we had to leave hungry and thirsty! Do yourself a favor- go to Checkers next door – I bet you won’t get yelled at for sending back bad food!
