My husband and I are Malaysians of Chinese origins, and the Salinas was one of our stops in our month long holiday in California. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. The setting of the restaurant brought us back to the old Chinese era with its beautiful paintings and decor. We had the shop speciality which was fried battered squid. It was crunchy on the outside and deliciously meaty on the inside. The Szechuan hot and sour soup is a must treat. On the first spoonful, the combined hot and sour flavors burst in the mouth and you can't wait to follow it up with the next spoonful. It's value meals are very affordable - generally costs much less than a normal American meal. Chefs are imported from China; no wonder we get five star food at low prices. The proprietress is friendly and service is fast. They are keen to get customer feedback for continuous improvement. Definitely a place to go for a delicious, hearty meal. Shop opens around 10 or 11 am and closes around 9 or 10 pm.
