This restaurant has a great location, just next to the Mississippi River and a marina. Captain's Table is a wonderful place for dinner as the food and view are exceptional. Plan to arrive hungry as the portions are generous. They have lots of fish/seafood and steaks on the menu. We ordered, the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. The presentation was eye catching with a full boat-cut slice of pineapple and three very large shrimp on skewers. However the shrimp did not taste like coconut shrimp even with the two sauces given. The wait staff was very attentive and the manager made a point to stop at our table twice. The salad is served family style and comes in a large bowl with mixed greens, not just iceberg lettuce and a few skimpy tomatoes. We selected the honey mustard viniagrette and it was delicious. The salad was chilled and the taste was fresh. My order of crab cakes arrived with two large patties and seafood risotto that had chunks of shellfish in it. Delicious! The crab cakes were very tasty, not too spicy and amply filled with blue crab. My husband had the catfish and appreciated the light breading. It was again a nice sized portion. The beer and wine were nicely chilled and the coffee was not too strong. We will return again and try the prime rib and scallops!
We will never eat at this restaurant again. I ordered a Rock Lobster Tail & baked potato with just butter. I received 2 Maine Lobster Tails & some kind of rice dish. I told the waitress that was not what I ordered. She gave me an angry look & took it back. When she brought it back it had the baked potato on it & she told me very rudely that Rock & Maine are the same thing & she sat it down on the table. I proceeded to eat it anyway & I could hardly cut the lobster & it was very chewy. Not like any lobster I have ever had before. She came back & asked how our meal was & my husband & I told her not very good. Our friends that were with us told her "We are not impressed." She turned around & walked off without saying a thing. I wanted to ask to see the manager, but the ambience was very nice there & I didn't want to create a scene. My husband had shrimp & he said it was not very good either. The shrimp tasted like it wasn't cooked enough. I will not recommend this place to anyone & will never return. My husband & I are usually 20% tippers, but because of the food & the rudeness of our waitress, she received no tip.

a diner from East Moline, Illinois
We received a gift certificate to the Captain's Table right before my husband was deployed to Iraq. He just returned for a 15 day R&R, so we thought this would be a great time to use the certificate. But after we had our dinner and gave the gift certificate for payment the manager told us that the certificate was not good, because it was under New Management. But they still have the same name (funny). There was nothing stating that the establishment was under new mangement and they would not be honoring the old certificate. I am truly upset with the fact that this certificate was for $120.00 and there is no way to use it or get the money back for it. We will never set foot in the Captain's Table again, and feel that if they are going to keep the name Captain's Table that they should be honoring the certificate or post something stating this establishment is under new management and will not be honoring any of the old certificates.
