With great expectations and an empty stomach, my wife and I decided to try Woody's. I was unpleasantly surprised by the blandness of the food, contrasted by the beauty of the Glass Museum.
I started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, a staple of any seafood restaurant. The Shrimp was of average size, and slightly overcooked, but was more disappointing was the sauce. This could easily have been from a store purchased jar. No fresh garnish, or horseradish, or anything that stood out.
Next Calamari: Breading falling off the calamari, and flavorless
Next Clam Chowder: Thin, very few clams, and quite bland
Entree: Tuscan Chicken, Breast quite small, with wing nub still on. Bland, overly garnished with Olives, very few of the other ingredients such as Sun Dried Tomato’s, Sautéed Artichoke Hearts, Italian Herbs, and Garlic. However it was not dry, it was flavorless.
Next Entree: Woody’s steak, nicely cooked, but very few mushrooms, Demi-Glace almost nonexistent, and vegetables crunchy.
Overall, the service was good, and the wait staff pleasant, but food was edible, but bland and not worth the price. A meal in my life worth forgetting.
