I'm sorry we've come across in this way. While none of us have degrees in hospitality, we've worked very hard for 12 years (8 at this location) to weather the vagaries of human nature. I can only say that we take care to autopsy each mistake we know we make in the effort not to repeat it. We try our best to improve ourselves with each passing day. We're clearly not perfect but each night we want what you want: for you to have a good time. This is neither self-serving ad nor simple rebuttal. Rather, this is acknowledgment that this customer was under-whelmed and that we've taken their disappointment to heart. (and speaking as an owner, I suppose I should be flattered that we at least appear to have money.)

The ignorance of the first reviewer astounds me. The owners of Baan Sawan put more care into every dish than in any other restaurant I have ever been to. It has a great, intimate atmosphere, engaging staff and incredible food. What are you looking for? Tavern on Green? I'm sure they won't lose any sleep if you stick with Thai Lotus, which seems more your style.

The food at “BAAN Sawan Thai Bistro” is very good, but the overall experience is compromised. We’ve tried it several times in hopes of improvement, but sadly the place reminds us of that Hertz commercial that has the punch line, “not exactly”. It comes across as more of a hobby of owners with more money than training in running restaurants. Columbia is ripe for a good Thai place.
