Have you ever walked into a pawn shop and noticed all the trinkets on the wall and everything scattered about? Well that was what the restaurant Sanford’s Pub and Grub was like. From old sports memorabilia to two seated bicycles, Sanford’s had it. With this set up you can probably imagine that the atmosphere in the restaurant was fun and exciting. There was so much going on that there wasn’t much room for a dull moment in the course of the meal. Not only did Sanford’s have their walls covered with useless stuff, they also had over 15 TVs in the whole place. With all this going on, the atmosphere was loud, but there was something fun in it. You could laugh, enjoy your surroundings, and your meal with not a care in the world. The room seemed to be alive with energy and there seemed to be something thrilling about eating there. Sanford’s restaurant definitely sets their standards high when it comes to atmosphere, and with no dull moments allowed it seems to be a fun and exciting place to enjoy your eating experience.
Not only did Sanford’s have a good environment, but the food’s appearance was amazing as well. When you look at the menu you may be overwhelmed with new and spicy things to try, but don’t let that fool you, Sanford’s meals were satisfactory in appearance and taste. They add color to enhance the look of the meal and serve their food on plates that look like hub caps. Just by the look of the food you could feel your mouth watering as it was set in front of you.
One person got there first and was immediately seated for our group of five. However, she said she was disappointed when at first the hostess ignored her for a minute or two to have a separate conversation with another employee. After she was seated the waitress came in only a few moments to get her drink order and she checked back every few minutes to see if anyone else had come. She was very impressed since most servers ignore the table completely if only one person is waiting on a group. Once the rest of the group arrived the server was there shortly to grab drinks and even warned one girl that her drink would be a little more expensive.
As we looked at the menu, some of us tried new items that we had yet to eat at Sanford’s and hoped the menu would be right about what to expect. The Chicken ‘n Chips were fried to a golden brown just like the menu described and it came with the sides of fries and coleslaw. The Bourbon St. New York was perfectly broiled and had a good bourbon sauce that the menu depicted. The Cajun Fajitas were sizzling, full of flavor, and came with the necessary fixings that any fajita lover would expect. The server kept up with refills regularly and once the food arrived she made sure we wouldn’t need anything else. The food was almost exactly what we expected from the menu. The details had our taste buds ready and waiting for the main course. Over all the experience was fun and full of laughs surrounded by good service and tasty food.
The food was again great as we stuffed our faces with the tastiness known as Sanford’s, the quality of the meals out due most restaurants of this style. The steak was cooked exactly how he wanted it, the fajitas were said to be, “excellent,” and “very good,” was used to describe the rather simple and most common chicken finger platter.
The music was more or less being played to appeal everyone as it had all kinds of types from oldies to some newer music. One member of the group did not like it since it had some music that he had never heard; it just was not his type. Although the chatter of the table and the people around was louder at most times when he did catch the music it was not at all appealing to him. The rest of the group, on the other hand, enjoyed the music stating, “It was upbeat, nice, and different then other places.” Sanford’s was over all a good experience for all of us, and a great place to dine.

Sanford’s review

When we walked into Sanford’s it is a warm and friendly environment. Walking into the restaurant you may look around and say it was cluttered but to me it is interesting and has a past. When you walk in the decoration is rustic and original. There is barely any room left on the walls at all but somehow it still seems inviting and fun. Creatively cluttered all over are license plates, baseball bats and random pictures. There are even bikes hanging from the ceiling. Even though the restaurant looks fun it isn’t the type of place you wear sweatpants to. A decent pair of jeans and I nice shirt will do. There are a lot of different kinds of people that you see walking through this place. This includes families, couples and just friends out having a beer. It is a family oriented restaurant, which welcomes everyone. From our personal experiences it has always made us feel comfortable.
Walking in you get asked how many people and the hostess sat us as soon as she could. She didn’t say much except asking us to follow her and making sure we were comfortable where she chose to seat us. She didn’t say anything about the specials of the day or anything else. The waitress was very friendly, telling us what the hostess didn’t and asking us what we would like to drink. She noticed none of us were of drinking limit and named the nonalcoholic drinks that we had to choose from. We ordered drinks and an appetizer right away. Drinks came out right away. The menus presentation was beautiful and well done. We order our meal and shortly after our appetizer (fried pickles) came out too. The food names were inventive. Things like pants on fire, crocodile cristo, falcon fingers and many other foods made you want to order it just to see what it was.
The waitress again asks us if we need anything else while we are waiting for our meal. We start eating our fried pickles and sit and talk while waiting. There is light background music, which you can barely hear above the talking. There are TVs everywhere so if you wanted to enjoy a show while you eat you just have to angle yourself toward the show you wanted to watch.
We had the appetizer gone in a matter of minutes. A guy comes out with our food, all looking amazing, and hands us paper towels. Our waitress checks on us enough that we don’t run out of drinks but not enough to be annoying. Everything looks so good that you almost want to share everything, but then decide you don’t want to share your own food. Stealing some fries from my boyfriend I dig into my food with a ridiculously large fork. Compared to the meal it still seems like you need something bigger.
The food tastes as good as it looked and sounded on the creative, well laid out menu they gave us when we first arrived. The meals are huge almost too big for us to finish the whole thing but they are so good you don’t want to quit eating no matter how much your stomach bulges because you’re so full. Waiting for slower people to eat there are plenty of things to look at all over the walls and ceiling.
The restaurant has great service, and more importantly good food. It is fun and you could go there with almost anyone you want to take. The prices aren’t terrible compared to how big the meals are. It is entertaining and somewhere people would want to go back to whenever they could.

The three of us went to Sanford’s Grub and Pub in downtown Cheyenne on Friday October 3, 2009. The Environment was very attractive. Instead of having nothing to look at on the wall, there were many different things to draw your eye. Everywhere you turn there was something to look at. There were pictures, toy cars and trucks, banners on the ceiling, and old license plates on the walls. One of the pillars even had pairs of shoes all the way up it. If the walls weren’t enough to keep your attention, there was also a television over almost every table as well as three more over the bar. The music they played in the background was also at the perfect level. It wasn’t so quiet that you had to strain to hear it, but it also wasn’t so loud that you could not hear each other talk.
Everyone that worked at Sanford’s the day we were there seemed very friendly. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile talking to us all the way to our table. Our server as well was very friendly. She was willing to help us with any questions we might have, and appeared to be very knowledgeable about the menu. She was able to tell Emily not only which salad she personally preferred, but also what salads were the most popular among gests.
Even though the server’s first impression with us was good, she was fairly slow. We had to ask to get our drinks refilled and it took her a long time to come back and get our order. She also only stopped by the table once during the meal.
The prices at Sanford’s appeared to be somewhat expensive at first glance. The appetizer was only $3.48 because we ate during happy hour. However, Sarah’s pasta was $13.99, Emily’s salad was $9.99, and Megan’s burger was $9.99 as well. Not to mention the desert costing $7.99. Once you added everything up, it seemed like a pretty expensive meal. As soon as the dinner was delivered to the table however, we no longer thought the prices to be that high. The portion sizes were HUGE! But we were in luck, we had gigantic forks to help us eat everything with. We sat there joking about how we would never be able to eat everything even if we had two stomachs a piece. We definitely got what we paid for, and then some.
The food was also unique. We were able to order things you would never think went well together, but they worked. Megan ordered a hamburger with jalapeños and cream cheese. And for desert we all split a deep fried Oreo sunday. It was amazing! The next time you stop by there make sure if nothing else, you try the desert.
We were all impressed with how clean the restaurant was. The floor appeared to have been recently mopped and swept. All the tables we passed were clean of the food and dishes left by the previous diners. Which speaks load about how competent there bussing staff was. The restrooms as well were very clean. Those too were covered with pictures to occupy your time.
Over all our experience was very enjoyable. The environment was fun and had a laid back feel to it, everyone was very friendly, and even though the server was a little slow, we had good food. We will definitely be back for another visit. Were all craving some deep fried Oreo’s
