Went to the Southern Kitchen for breakfast on a Sunday Morning. Food was served in good time, the problem was that the food was not very hot. It kind of turns you off when it isn't hot. Haven't been back since.

Since this was on "Drive-in, Diners and Dives", we were looking forward to the experience. We were overwhelmed by the grease smell when we got there, but it was a small place, so ok. The waitress was not overly friendly. We were with another couple, and we both had a coupon from our Entertainment books, another reason we went, and she informed us we could only use one coupon per table, even though we were paying seperately, and it wasn't her call but management. I ordered liver and onions, mac and cheese and candied yams. I was surprised the liver was breaded, never had it that way, was not impressed. The mac and cheese was very good, a little bland, and the candied yams were dripping in brown sugar sauce, and soggy. The cornbread pancake that was part of all entree's was out of this world. My husband said the eggs and hash browns were good, but biscuits and gravy nothing to rave about. The other couple seemed ok with their choices, but surprised that the okra was breaded and deep fried. Do not think I'd return.

I have given this restaurant 4 stars in most catagories, but that doesn't really tell the story. Great food. Great service and staff. Great atmosphere. A GREAT PLACE!!! I only gave it 4 stars because this place stand alone and no rating system can do it justice. Be prepared for southern everything and you will not be disappointed.
