Italian comfort food at best. Great for groups.
Pastas, fish, meat course all reasonably priced with hearty generous portion. Service is always professional and friendly.
It is not touristy! They are all for fresh local produce :)
Spending a week in San Francisco with an active toddler can be quite interesting! We had the sincere pleasure of dining at Lottavo our last night in town. The food was absolutely wonderful, the staff is fabulous - we loved Marco - and they were kid

This is an awesome place to eat in Cole Valley. The food is delicious and the portions are large. Great to share a few dishes with a partner or to take the leftovers home. You can make two meals out of the portions that they give you. The service has

I have been coming here since the late 50's, and I must say....How do they keep up such a great establishment without any blemish in site....i mean it is so clean and beautiful inside. Also, the food is still the best Italian anywhere on the west coast!!

50 dollars for 3 pasta dishes, penne w/ bolognese, spaghetti w/ meatballs, and ravioli (meat). The tiny salad came with 2 bitter romaine hearts in it, the meatballs were perhaps the saltiest I have ever had. They were burned on the bottom, and tasted slightly of fish. The penne plate was a huge stack of steam table pasta with a dollop of salty red sauce on top. As far as I understand bolognese should have meat in it, but this sauce was totally devoid of any. We were served a hunk of cold sourdough, unsliced, no butter in sight. The place was not busy. I used to love Villa Romana as the neighborhood italian place; but since they raised their prices things have gone steadily downhill. A total washout. Bye bye Villa Romana.

This place is phenomenally good. I mean it is excellent. Great food, great service, and a wonderful old world Italian ambience make it the best I've seen.

This place RULES. Dennis and his family are artisans of a lost craft in this dotcom world, a world that is strip malled and chained out. This place is CORE. It's a JOINT and it can't be beat.
