Let me begin by saying this might be a great dessert place or breakfast place. Dinner in my opinion left much to be desired unfortunately. Our party had four entrees, two good and two not so good. Let's begin with the positive. My daughter had the bone in rib eye with a twice baked potato and bean succotash. It was a tasty cut of meat but the potato couldn't have been smaller. The succotash was alright but nothing to write home about. My son had the maple glazed salmon medium with mashed potatoes and wilted spinich. His meal was the best of all of them. Everything was very flavorful from his plate. My husband got the roast duck with corn pudding. The duck was tender but the sauce just didn't seem to make a good combonation and the corn pudding was so dry and crumbly. Even if they called it corn bread it would have been considered dry. I was anticipating something creamy and light. That was very disappointing. My dinner was a disappointment as well. I got the Chicken Cordon Carolina. It was country ham stuffed inside a chicken breast rolled in vinegar potato chip crumbs. The ham had cheese with it and apparently it was some type of strong goat cheese which I didn't think paired well with this dish. The dish was salty and the cheese distasteful. It came with the worst pureed sweet potatos I ever had. Every ones dish seemed to come with wilted spinich so I guess they got a deal on spinich this week.

On top of the let down in the food dept, the service was mediocre at best. The wait staff seemed untrained and therefore everything was not going smoothly although they were very friendly. But in this type of restaurant with prices around $25 each entree, you would expect knowledgable servers and enough of them. Our waitress seemed a bit frazzled and over worked. When we came in we told the hostess we were a party of five with a baby and they only brought seats for the five of us. The hostess saw that we had three children with us but failed to give us children's menus. We didn't even know they existed until the waitress asked us if we wanted them, yes, duh! We had to put the babyseat on the floor (baby was in it mind you) for nearly five minutes before we could get someone's attention and ask for them to bring her a chair to set her on. That took another 5 to 7 minutes too. That wait was apologized for but why would they not seat the baby in the first place? Then once we finally ordered we were starving and had to ask someone other than our waitress (couldn't find her) to ask for some bread and butter. The bread was really good though- little round multigrain rolls with whipped butter. The waitress forgot to bring my young son an extra plate so I had to ask twice for that.

Finally, after dinner we were at least looking forward to some good sweets. The pecan brownie was good but tasted just like the one at Chick-Fil-A. I could have gotten that one for less $$. My son got the raspberry cheesecake which was sub par. Downtown Thai in Winston has a rockin' raspberry cheesecake, btw. My daughter got the key lime pie which was good except for the whipped cream. I think it was dream whip or something very pre-fab, definitely not real whipped cream. What's up with that? I don't know, this place seemed to have some good points but this evening the cons outweighed the pro by a majority so I think we'll stick closer to home next time. I might consider going back for breakfast, we'll see. I can recommend the chocolate dream cookie. It was fudgy and fresh but hardly worth the trip for one good cookie and for a $130.00 dinner I'm more busy licking my wounds than my lips.
